News and Upcoming Opportunities

Letter from Aceh Fulbright Association to Presidents Bush and Clinton
During the most recent retreat of the Fulbright grantees on the Tsunami Relief Program held January 16-18 in Little Rock, AR the news was shared with them that IIE would be gathering all of the Haitian Fulbrighters in New York for a retreat. The grantees were very concerned about their colleagues from Haiti having been through a similar tragedy in Aceh before they all arrived in the United States. The students took up a donation basket (it was actually a to-go container from the hotel) at the retreat and collected $500 to contribute to the Haitian relief efforts. That money was sent via the Clinton School of Public Service in Little Rock to the Clinton Foundation.  Read the letter that the grantees from the Aceh Fulbright Assocation wrote to Presidents Bush and Clinton.

Volunteer of the Month
The driving force behind IIE's success is our strong network of volunteers.  In appreciation of those volunteers who have done the most to advance IIE's mission, "Opening Minds to the World," we present the IIE Volunteer of the Month.

This month, we thank Allison Sharpe who has helped out tremendously over the last six months, most recently being involved in helping to organize the wonderful Peace Scholars program.   She answers IIE's requests with a smile and enthusiasm and we are extremely appreciative of all her hard work and dedication.

Thank you Allsion!  Read more about Allison, the IIE Volunteer of the Month for January
