DWAC Speaker – Michael Maibach 10/19/2011
European Financial Crisis

The Arab spring, nuclear disaster in Japan, sovereign debt crises everywhere, US political deadlock and weak politics in the EU – the transatlantic partnership is experiencing some dark days. Will the new geopolitical trends drive the partners further apart, or will they foster closer cooperation? Given the serious domestic problems and foreign-policy constraints on both sides, will the transatlantic partners ever be able to find common ground? And what can be seen on the horizon?
Michael Maibach is the President and CEO of the European-American Business Council (EABC), which promotes trans-Atlantic trade, investment and job creation. He served as manager of governmental affairs for Caterpillar and vice president of governmental affairs for Intel Corporation.
